The Attorneys
Our attorneys have been recognized by our peers for our legal ability, achieving an AV rating, the highest rating for lawyer competence and skill given by Martindale Hubbell. In fact, every member of our firm carries the AV rating. In addition, one of our attorneys has been selected as a Georgia Super Lawyer for the fourth consecutive year.
Hal Whiteman
Hal Whiteman has specialized in workers compensation law for over 24 years. Mr. Whiteman is an AV-rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest rating given an attorney by that organization. He has been a frequent speaker on workers compensation law at State Bar seminars, including the annual Georgia Workers Compensation Institute. He regularly tries workers compensation cases before judges throughout the State of Georgia. He has served as a mediator in many workers compensation cases.
In addition, Hal represents individuals and small companies in contract disputes and employment related issues.
Previously, Hal helped found the insurance and civil litigation firm of Gorby, Reeves, Moraitakis, & Whiteman, PC where he was a partner for seven years. He left in 1992 to establish a practice as a sole practitioner until forming the workers compensation firm of Whiteman, Smith, & Hamilton in 1997. He was a principal in the firm of Whiteman, Hamilton, & Hasner until 2003. At that time, Hal resigned to serve as counsel to the insurance and civil litigation firm of Lowendick, Cuzdey, Ehrmann, & Wagner. He joined Cohen, Cooper, Estep, & Mudder in 2004 as a principal.
Hal is a member of the Sandy Springs Bar Association, the Cobb County Bar Association, the Lawyers Club of Atlanta, and the State Bar of Georgia. A native Atlantan, Hal obtained his BA degree from the University of Virginia and his law degree from Mercer University. He and his wife Pat reside in Sandy Springs with their four dogs.
